hello from the other side

And so I let the train

come to me.

Walking down the tracks,

I feel the rumble

before I see them,

tank cars of black anodized cylinders,

and so I let the thudding train

come to me.

Parallel to my quiet woods path,

the tracks lead toward Philly,

consumers of LPG,

and so I let the long gas train

come to me.

Thunk, th-wunk, th-wunk

over a seam in the tracks

a heavy clash and crash,

and so I let the stopped train

come to me.

you

were

here

and so I let the tagged train

come to me.

I walk with migrating warblers–

magnolia, bay-breasted,

Blackburnian, palm, prairie,

northern parula–

flying over the transit

of gas I’ll burn tonight.

and so I let the pressurized train

come to me.

trump

train

you can read it for yourself

tagged,

peeking out of the leaves,

free of warblers heading farther north

to escape Global warming,

their policy and protest writ small,

and so I let the trump train

come to me.
