I was born in a doorway
Somewhere between the inside and the outside.
My off Broadway run has often stumbled
And awkwardly fallen
Many Times.
Having no reasonable options,
I have occasionally scheduled a new venue.
And auditioned for new cast members
The reviews have been mixed, at best.
But, the show must go on.
So, beyond the rewrites and the plot tweaks,
The production has pressed on.
Frequently with very sparse audiences,
Interspersed with rare huzzahs.
The director and the writer still work full time.
